La Casa Ideal (The Ideal House) is evocative of the links between the conspicuous presence of homes under construction throughout the city (let’s say Madrid) and the nameless workforce of immigrants who build them. I am to reveal certain aspects, hidden by the trappings of everyday life, which emerge from urban planning and the rearrangement of towns. From a perspective of otherness, I have tried to examine the poetic, social and political possibilities of these phenomena.
My proposed work comprises photography and video: on the one hand, i have used digital tools to pile up an endless series of buildings to create fictitious architectures in which I hyperbolize Foucault’s panopticism in contemporary cities and societies. Furthermore, in the video I present close-ups of the immigrant laborers, who imagine and reveal (voice-over) their ideal living spaces. Their own voices make them visible. For a moment, they slip from the clutches of anonymity.

Este trabajo evoca los vínculos entre la conspicua presencia de habitáculos en construcción a lo largo de la geografía urbana de la metrópoli -pongamos que hablo de Madrid- y la anónima fuerza de trabajo de los inmigrantes que los levantan. Pretendo hacer visibles ciertos aspectos, ocultos por la cotidianidad, que surgen de los reordenamientos urbanos y las recomposiciones poblacionales. Desde una perspectiva de alteridad, he tratado de indagar las posibilidadespoéticas, sociales y políticas de estos fenómenos.
Propongo una obra compuesta de fotografía y video: Por un lado he apilado, con herramientas digitales, una serie de edificaciones sin terminar para crear arquitecturas ficticias en las cuales hiperbolizo la estética panóptica que Foucault anunciara para las ciudades y sociedades contemporáneas. Por otro lado, presento en el video primeros planos de peones inmigrantes, quienes imaginan y describen (voice-over) sus espacios vitales ideales. Su propia voz los visibiliza. Por un momento se escabullen de la anonimia.
